THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Tue., April 12, 1927, p. 4, col. 1 [edited].
With a Marine Corps escort of honor guarding the body, funeral services will be held this afternoon for J. Moss Brown, 33, who died Sunday afternoon following an operation at the League Island Naval Hospital near Philadelphia. Services will be conducted at 3:00 o'clock from the home of J. A. Brown, Church Street, brother of the deceased. American Legion post will be in charge of the funeral. After a service at the hospital, the body will arrive here this morning, accompanied by Mrs. A. M. Hodgson of Richmond, who reached her brother a few hours afer he died Sunday. Another sister, Mrs. P. S. Barrow of Bluefield, W. Va., arrived Monday.
Mr. Brown enlisted in the marine corps at the start of the war and was one of the escorts for President Wilson on his trip to Europe. He was present at the surrender of the German fleet at the close of the war.
