Mr. Benjamin Franklin Hickox, age 72, resident of Clay Hill, died December 16, 2006 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born and raised in Hickox, GA, where he attended school.

He entered the U.S. Navy and served during the KOREAN Conflict, returning to Jacksonville in 1954 and resided there until 1969 when he moved to Clay Hill where he has lived since. He was employed by the Florida Department of Corrections until retiring in 1986. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by one son, Marshall Hickox.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mrs. Peggy Hutson Hickox of Clay Hill; six sons: Maxie (Agnes) Hickox of Lawtey, FL, Victor Hickox of Lake City, FL, Glen (Rita) Hickox of Okeechobee, FL, Kevin (Denise) Hickox of Orange Park, FL, Richard (Betty) Hickox of Brunswick, GA, Johnny (Melissa) Hickox of Middleburg, FL, one daughter: Laura Hickox of Clay Hill, one brother: Danny (Kathy) Haynes of Nahunta, GA, six grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 20, 2006 in the chapel of Archie Tanner Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Crews officiating, with graveside services at 2:00 PM in the New Hope Cemetery, in Hickox, GA. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 19, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
