SELMER - William Velmer Howell, 86, retired farmer, died of kidney failure Friday at McNairy County General Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Shackelford Funeral Home here with burial in Lake Hill Memory Gardens in Bethel Springs.
He was a member of Sanctified Church of Christ. Mr. Howell, the widower of Dessie Matlock Howell, leaves three daughters, Juanita Quartaro of Las Vegas, and Doris Mullen and Wanda Smith, both of Selmer; five sons, Billy Joe Howell of Stanford, Ky., Willard Howell of Jackson, John D. Howell of Adamsville, and Herbert Howell and Junior Howell, both of Selmer; three sisters, Verble Nixon of Selmer, Jessie Matlock of Pickwick Dam and Jewel Waddell of Florence, Ala.; a brother, Lester Howell of Hornsby, 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
