Little 4-year-old Darcey Freeman was murdered in a crime that shocked and horrified the whole of Australia. On Thursday the 29th of January 2009, at approximately 9.10am, Darcey and her two brothers were being driven to their respective schools and kindys by their father, Arthur. For reasons known only to himself, at the top of the Westgate Bridge in Melbourne, Victoria, Darcey's father allegedly stopped the car, removed Darcey from it, walked to the edge of the bridge and dropped her over the side. Several horrified motorists witnessed the event. She fell almost 60 meters into the water below, and died several hours later at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.

Her devastated family and loved ones have released statements describing Darcey as a 'spirited young child' who loved playing chasey at her kinder, and the song 'Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport'. She loved playing on the trampoline, dancing, and had a very strong will and determined nature, and adored her older brother Ben and younger brother Jack. 'We will miss you every day and remember you with love and laughter' - Darcey's mum Peta.

This precious girl has become the little angel Australia has lost. There are talks currently ongoing on holding a national Children's Day in honour of Darcey, as well as in memory of all the precious children that have left us too soon.

Sleep tight with the angels little one, you will be loved and remembered forever xx
