Irene Y. Daniels
COOPERSTOWN — Mrs. Irene Y. Daniels, 88, formerly of Cooperstown, died early Wednesday morning, May 2, 2001, at The Meadows.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1912, in Middlefield, a daughter of Floyd S. and Myrtle J. (Putnam) Yerdon.
She first married Alfred H. Camp on Jan. 6, 1932, in Cherry Valley. Mr. Camp died on Oct. 26, 1963. She then married Howard A. Daniels on Jan. 8, 1966, in Cooperstown. Mr. Daniels died on Oct. 20, 1971.
Irene grew up in Cherry Valley and attended school there.
She was employed at the Cooperstown Diner from 1951 until 1966.
Following her marriage to Mr. Daniels, Irene lived in Rockdale for 20 years, returning to Cooperstown in 1986.
She was a member of the Cooperstown United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Ellen Little Missionary Circle, the Middlefield Historical Association, the Senior Citizen Club of Roseboom and was a volunteer at The Meadows. She was also a former member of The Pocohantas and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cooperstown VFW.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Floyd A. and Joan L. Camp of Indiantown, Fla.; her grandchildren, Michael C. Camp of Sayville, Long Island, and Mrs. Patricia A. Bergerson of Oakdale, Long Island; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Harris F. Yerdon, and his wife, Margaret, of Cherry Valley; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Gallup of Cooperstown; one cousin and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Ceylon F. Yerdon and George A. Yerdon; and three sisters, Mrs. Helen E. Delaney, Mrs. Wava K. Snyder and Mrs. Edna M. Madison.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2001, at the Cooperstown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Hale, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Middlefield Cemetery.
At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial gifts may be made to the Memorial Fund, care of the Cooperstown United Methodist Church, 66 Chestnut St., Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.
