Mrs. Victoria Wickwire
Mrs. Victoria Butler Wickwire, wife of the late Amos Wickwire, was called to rest from the home of her son, G. N. Wickwire of Middlefield, on Sunday, March 29th. Mrs. Wickwire had been ill for two weeks and death was due to pneumonia.
Mrs. Wickwire, the last member of a family of nineteen children was ninety years of age and was born in Middlefield on December 2, 1840. She was the daughter of Amos Butler and Clarenda North. Her husband died in 1902. mrs. Wickwire comes of a fine old family and has always resided in Middlefield. In spite of her ninety years Mrs. Wickwire possessed the greatest of all blessings, good health and was always busy with hosehold duties until her last illness. During the summers she resided on the homestead farm near Middlefield Center and in the winter time with her son, Gabriel. She was a member of the Presbyterian church of Middlefield Center.
Mrs. Wickwire is survived by six children; Mrs. Edwin Eckler of Cooperstown; Mrs. Elmer Root of Springfield; Charles and Gabriel of Middlefield; Fred, on the homestead farm in Middlefield, and Sumner A. of West Winfield. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
The funeral services were held from the late residence in Middlefield on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Walter A. Miller, pastor of the Baptist church of Westville, officiating with interment in the Middlefield Baptist cemetery.
