James Chase


James Chase died very suddenly at his home near this village in the town of Middlefield, at about 2:30 o'clock, Monday morning. He had been in his usual good health up to a short time before his death, having visited Cooperstown, Saturday. Sunday he was not feeling so well and he missed his usual attendance at church. He was sixty-two years of age and was a man universally respected. He was a regular attendant at the services of the Baptist church of which he had been a faithful member for years.


He is survived by his wife and six children: Mrs. Loren Sperry of Cooperstown, Lee Chase of Schuyler Lake, Earl Chase of Junction City, Kansas; Charles and the Misses Clara and Amy. Mrs. B.F. Murdock and te Misses Belinda and Lucy Chase of Cooperstown are surviving sisters; and charles and alphonso chase, who reside in the West, brothers.


The funeral was held at his late home Thursday, afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock, with interment at the middlefield Village cemetery. owing to the absence of the pastor, the Rev. mr. Squyer, the Rev. Mr. Cortright, pastor of the Universalist church officiated.
