S.E. Coates Dies At Smithfield
Samuel Ezra Coates, 80, former Star Valley resident, died at his home in Smithfield, Utah early Saturday following a two weeks illness.
He was born Feb 12, 1879, in Iowa to Henry and Rebecca swope Coates. He came to Utah at an early age, but lived in Star Valley most of his life as a farmer in the lower valley.
He married Elizabeth Emma Hokanson Nov. 16 1916 in Thayne. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
He is survived by his widow of Smithfield; two sons Elwood, Salt Lake City and Lloyd, Etna; 21 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and one sister.
Funeral services were conducted in the Smithfield First Ward Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. Burial was in the Thayne Cemetery.
