Adams County Free Press, Corning, Iowa, Saturday, June 10, 1922, Page 15:

The old time Corning friends of the Capt. W. H. Hoxie family will regret to learn of the death of his wife, Mrs. Nellie Hoxie, which occurred May 26, at Galveston, Tex., at the home of her eldest son Oscar. She was aged 75 years, 5 months, and 5 days. Directly after the civil war Capt. and Mrs. Hoxie came to this city and for many years was editor and publisher of the Adams County Gazette, one number issued after the death of the owner, who passed away in 1903. Mrs. Hoxie was a southern woman and was married to Capt. Hoxie at Nashville, Tenn., in 1864. Four children survive their parents: Oscar Hoxie of Galveston, Mrs. Ruth Armstrong of South Sioux City, Neb., Clay Hoxie of South Sioux City, Neb., and Mrs. Wem Dunkinson of Bloomington, N. Y.

Mother-in-law of Katie Darrah Hoxie, Clay's wife.
