She gave her heart to God when 14 years old and joined the Methodist church of Naples, IL, later changing her membership to the Presbyterian church at Hersman.
On May 17, 1895, she was united in marriage to Lester Bowen, now deceased, of Elkhorn township. To this union nine children were born: Florence Hamilton, Versailles; Marie Dillon, Beverly; Opal Riley, Denver, CO; Stella Dunbar, deceased; Isabel Wilson, Baylis; Charles Abslom Bowen, deceased; Gennis G. Bowen, Zelma Scheel and Mildred Sunseri, Chicago.
She also leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Jesse Dunbar, whom she married May 20, 1939; two brothers, George and Herman Surratt, Denver, CO; two sisters, May Patterson, Kewanee and Lottie Ingram, Loame, IL; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She spent the last years of her life near Mt. Sterling. Her life speaks for itself.
