Gino held a degree of Doctor of Civil Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology of Turino, and a Master of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), received on December 19, 1941.

Before leaving Italy, Gino was an Assistant Professor of Engineering at the Polytechnic of Turino. He came to the United States in 1938, living in Princeton, New Jersey. As a builder, Gino built more than 1,000 homes in Queens, Nassau and Westchester Counties, as well as numerous apartment buildings in Manhattan. He was president of the Sherman Organization, a parent firm for six building concerns, with offices at 120 Broadway, New York. He was a consultant to the Societa Generale Immobiliare, an Italian construction company, in the construction of a large housing project on the Patomac River in the District of Columbia.

Gino died at North Shore Hospital, following a sudden coronary attack, shortly before his 54th birthday
