RICHARD A. "RICKY" ELKINS, III

MILTON -- Richard Allen Elkins, III, 39, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, while at his home. He was born in St. Albans on July 17, 1964, son of Richard Elkins, II and Alice (Fletcher) Elkins. Rick was a conscientious and hard working employee for many years with Lake Champlain Housing and Essex Realty. He more recently was employed by The Terraces in Shelburne.

Rick was a loving father whose greatest joy was his family. He always had a clever wit with a gentle sense of humor. Rick loved camping, computers, video games, fishing, golf and reading. He will be loved and missed always.

He is survived by his father, Richard W. Elkins, II and his wife Linda of Colchester; his mother, Alice M. (Fletcher) Elkins Workman of Grand Isle; his wife, Wendy (Pendris) Elkins of Burlington; his former wife, Leshia (Lagro) Elkins and their four sons, Joshua Elkins and his partner Robin Ward and their daughter Isabella of Williston, Joseph Elkins of Grand Isle, Jacob Elkins and Jeremiah Elkins, both of Berkshire; his brothers, Timothy Elkins and his wife Katherine of Essex Jct. and their sons, Derek of Essex Jct., and Dana and his partner Amy Millard of Essex Ctr., Scott Elkins and his wife Julie and their twin sons Luke and Seth of Grand Isle; his sister, Kim (Elkins) LaPlant and her husband Gary of Milton; several aunts, uncles and cousins; his dear friend K.C. Lagro of Colchester; and his faithful dog Tucker, ever by his side. He was predeceased by his step-father, Richard A. Workman, Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Irwin Sr. and Glenna Fletcher; and his paternal grandparents, Richard and Dorcas Elkins.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Hayes-Rich Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at 1:30 p.m. in Hayes-Rich Funeral Home with Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating. Internment will be in the spring and at the convenience of the family.
