Obituary----De Vries: Martin De Vries, a son of Ira and Hendriena [Blom] De Vries was born near Promise City, Iowa, April 13, 1898. He passed away at his home in East St. Louis, Ill., February 18, 1930 at the age of 31 years, 10 months and 5 days. When he was five years of age he came with his parents to Missouri and lived with them on the farm in the Praire Chapel community where his parents live now. He was married to Miss Marie Hensley on March 6, 1918 but death robbed him of his companion within less than a year. On September 9, 1921 he married Miss Florence Riley of Green City, Missouri with whom he lived happily until his death. He is survived by his faithful wife, two children Annabelle and Billy Joe, his brothers John and Henry and sister Sarah. Funeral services were held at the grave conducted by Rev. W.J. Imes. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. J.R. Chapman, Lynn B. Kent, Miss Frances Gibson and Thomas Hardinger sang two songs, after which the body was laid to rest at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
