George William Cummings of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on March 31, 1917, in Lawrence County, IN, he was the son of James David and Lena (Stipp) Cummings. He married Kathryn Gaile Todd on October 24, 1953, and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters: Patricia Lyons of Springville, IN, and Barbara Todd of Vermillion, OH; one step-son, John Richard Flynn of Bloomington; two sisters: Thelma Breedlove of Norman, IN, and Mabel Gulley of Winchester, IN; one brother, Robert Cummings of Seymour, IN; eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, and two brothers.

He had worked at General Motors Powertrain for twenty years and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Church of God and American Legion Gillen Post No. 33.

Services for George Cummings will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22nd, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Wiggs officiating. Burial will be in Lawrenceport Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33, Bedford.
