Mrs. Jane Davis

Mrs. Jane Davis, lovingly known as "Aunt Jane" by her friends, died early Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Farmer, near Wilsonville after an illness of little more than a week. Mrs. Davis has reached the advanced age of 81 years, and up to the time of her illness had been quite active for one of her age. She had gone for a visit to her daughter and seemed to feel from the first that this would be her last illness.

She was fully reconciled to the call, for the whole of her long life had been spent in making preparation to be ready. One who knew her well said just a few days before the news of her death came, "Aunt Jane was a Christian woman if there ever was one." She was a life-long member of the Baptist church.

The funeral, held at Rocky Ridge church Tuesday, was conducted by Rev R. L. Durant, assisted by other ministers, and was attended by a large number of friends.

Mrs. Davis had made her home in the same community for 64 years, having moved to Shelby a bride. Her husband, Joseph R. Davis, preceded her 6 years ago.

She is survived by three sons, W. M. Davis, C. B. Davis, and Henry Davis, Rt. 3, Columbiana, and three daughters, Mrs. John Farmer, Wilsonville, Mrs. Fannie Buckner, Birmingham, and Mrs. N. Mooney, Kingdom.
