Russell Lee Stoops, 90, of Dresden, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2008 at Genesis Extended Care and Rehab Center. He was born February 16, 1917, in Walker, West Virginia, a son of the late Charles B. and Elva Johnson Stoops. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School Class of 1935 and was a WWII Army Veteran. He retired in 1982 from Clow in Coshocton, Ohio, as a Fleet Safety Supervisor.

Surviving are a son, James R. Stoops of Hilliard, Ohio; two granddaughters, Laura (John David) Reyes Sr. of Tucson, Arizona and Christine (Brett) Carothers of Hilliard, Ohio; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Vencil Stoops, who died July 7, 2004; a sister, Genevieve Dickey and three brothers, Ray, Charles and Robert Stoops.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2008 at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the funeral home with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Dresden Cemetery, Dresden, Ohio.
