CPL Melvin W. "Rooky" Jacks, son of Mrs. Dora Jacks, was born Sept. 23, 1924 at El Reno and attended El Reno High School. He entered the service at Oklahoma City on Jan. 18, 1943 and trained at Camp Crowder. CPL Jacks served overseas 21 months in the ETO with the B-573 SAW Bn., and was killed in action in Germany on April 19, 1945.
