Daughter of Riley Fox and Caroline A. (Elrod)Fox. When thirteen years of age, her father and his maternal cousin moved their families to Parker Co., TX settling on Clear For where they owned 900 acres. They year they arrived it was the founding of Parker County. She road to town, if such it might be on horseback-there was only 4 houses (one being a log cabin)on the square which served as a grocery, dry goods store and served as post office.
Mary Jane married: 1st: Albert Monroe Robertson - one daughter, Missouri Ann Robertson who married Richard Kenneth Hagood. Albert died at the end of the Civil War of an illness.
Mary Jane married 2nd: James Averse Pritchard Jan 20, 1867. James A. was a widower with two small children, Thomas Carvel Pritchard who married Julia Koons and Maranda Elizabeth (Pritchard) who married Hugh Fox Williams.
Mary Jane and James A had 5 more children. They are: James Monroe Pritchard, Joseph Edward Pritchard, Henry Franklin Pritchard, Albert Jay Pritchard and Ida Bell (Pritchard) Durrett.
Mary Jane raised all the children together. James Averse worked for the Texas and Pacific Railroad and celebrated the first train in Weatherford.
Mary Jane was a Confederate widow twice, Albert M. Robertson and James A Pritchard both fought.
