Congressman. An 1840 graduate of Yale University, he studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1842. He practiced law in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and was eventually elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate. Elected as a Republican Congressman from Pennsylvania, he served two terms, from 1871 to 1875. He then returned to his law practice in Wilkes-Barre.
