John Hugh Brown was a soldier in the War of 1812 & aided in the Battle of Nigra, he assisted in guarding the bridge over Niagra River. The Brown Family moved to a farm in Muskingum County, Ohio where John moulded bricks with his brothers and farmed. He married Mary Magdalena McPherren in 1820 an they had 13 children. John's parents were Alexander Crawford Brown & Anna Jane Horton.
