Rita was born to Fred and Dora Isola Olsen Mellor on May 28, 1949 in Gunnison, Utah. She was raised in Fayette, Utah. She and Bruce married on August 24, 1968 in the Manti LDS Temple.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lester Fred, Roy F, Curtis Grant and Gaylen; and father-in-law, Mark Kay Heywood. She is survived by her husband, Bruce Neil Heywood; children, Heather A. (Jeffrey) Hurst; Heidi K (Jeremiah) Higley; Timothy N.; Robert B (Dana); and Holly J; brother, Arnold (Anna) Mellor; sister, Arva (Ronald) Silver; grandchildren, Jeron T, Jadee K, and Davis N. Higley, R Dylan and Maggie A Heywood; and mother-in-law, Neilene C. Heywood.
A viewing will be held at the Smith Family Funeral Home in Fallon on Friday, February 6, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. The Funeral will be held at the LDS Chapel at 450 North Taylor Street at 11 a.m., with a viewing at 10 a.m. prior to the services, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home. A viewing will be held at the Panguitch 2nd Ward Chapel on Sunday, February 8, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be held at the Panguitch, UT City Cemetery on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 10 a.m.
