Funeral services for Luther Goodman Sparkman, 69, 416 5th Avenue SW, who died Sunday at a Hartselle hospital, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Oak Ridge Methodist Church, Hartselle, with Bro. w.B. Fergeson officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery, Guntharp Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include the widow, Claudia Sparkman, Decatur; four step-daughters, Mrs. William C. Dale, Arcadia, Calif; Mrs. Harry Vein, Houston, Texas; Mrs. Jim Duncan, Fort Worth, Texas and Mrs. Ernest McAbee, Somerville 3; two sons, James L. and Elmer S. Sparkman, both of Decatur; three step-sons, Paul McEntire, Decatur; Bryan McEntire, Escaobma, Mich and John McEntire, Los Angeles, Calif; a sister, Mrs. Tom Wynn, Hartselle 4; four brothers, Norman Sparkman, Decatur; Pruitt Sparkman, Hartselle; Franklin Sparkman, Birmingham, and Anderson Sparkman, Hartselle; step-mother, Mrs. Rosie Sparkman, Hartselle; several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers are Chester Smith, J.B. Hurst, Hal Garrett, Jim McCullough, Lawrence Johnson and Lewis Clark.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Hartselle. The body will remain at the funeral home until time for services.
