She was born Feb. 19, 1932, in Buncombe County, daughter of the late William Samuel and Emma Lee Ducker Lackey.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer Guy Bowen, who died in 1992, and two sons, Dennis Dean and Douglas Darrell Dickinson
Survivors include her children, Linford Glen Dickinson of Kings Mountain, William Guy Bowen of Kings Mountain, Helen Sue Tassin and husband Michael Wayne Tassin of Kings Mountain; one brother, Thomas E. Lackey of Jacksonville, Fla; two sisters, Bonnie "Buntsie" Stoughton of Atlanta, Ga. and Claire "Cricket" McCurry of White Springs, Fla.; fifteen grandchildren and over 22 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bowen was a member of the Family Christian Center in Gastonia. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all. She retired as a CNA after working many years in the private practice.
Funeral services will be noon Wednesday at the Family Christian Center, 4004 York Hwy, Gastonia. Family will receive friends 11 a.m. to noon prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be at 2:30 at Oak Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, 227 Oak Hill Road, Candler, NC, 28715.
Memorials may be made to Family Christian Center Building Fund, 4004 York Hwy., Gastonia, NC 28052.
