He was the pastor of St. Paul's Methodist Episcopal church in Globe, Az. in 1905, then was principal of Globe Central School, superintendent of the Globe schools and then principal of Phoenix High School.
"It was during his administration that the Phoenix high school made its marvelous advancement and it was largely through his efforts that the magnificent group of school buildings were erected. There are few men who have such a monument.
"For some years Mr. Stabler had been spending his summer vacation at Pine Crest, Prescott and when he went there this year he was apparently in much better health than he had been a year ago at the time of his departure from Phoenix, and some hope was entertained by his friends of his complete recovery and his restoration to a life of usefulness.
Even in his illness he was not idle. He devoted himself to literature and produced a series of verses all relating to Arizona, which were later compiled in a volume called 'Arizona Sunshine.'
"They were with Mr. Stabler at his death beside his wife, his brother, a scientist and educator of California; his brother-in-law L.A. Bartlett of this city; his daughter, Mrs. Milton Munger, whose ill health compelled her to return to Phoenix three days ago; another daughter, Miss Ethel Stabler, a teacher in the city schools last year; and a son, Harold Stabler."
