THOMASVILLE - Allie McDowell Alford of Thomasville passed away May 14, 2008 at Hospice Home of the Piedmont.
She was born August 1, 1924, the daughter of William "Ed" and Bertie McDowell, who preceded her in death. She was retired from Parkdale Mills. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
On Dec. 6, 1941, she married Voyd Homer Alford who preceded her in death October 10, 1992. She was also preceded in death by a sister Annie Garrett May 26, 2007.
Surviving are a son Jerry Don Alford and wife Patsy, grandson A. Shane Alford; sisters Mittie Lomax and Dorothy Wright of Thomasville; two nieces, one nephew and four great-nephews.
A funeral service will be Saturday, May 17 at 11:00 a.m. at the Family Funeral Care Chapel with the Rev. Ron Blakley officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.
