Harold was born Sept. 4, 1899 in Strawn, KS to Fremont & Alice B. (Keeny) Flickinger. He attended Baker University in Baldwin, KS; married on May 10, 1925 at the Flickinger family home at 1020 Morris Ave., Topeka, KS. He and his wife toured with Chautauqua. He continued with his love of music, singing in a Barbershop Men's Quartet for many years when they lived in western Kansas. The family lived in Ashland and Oakley, KS before moving to Hays, KS in about 1951.

He was a former employee of Weisner's, and The Classic (both clothing stores in Hays). His wife, Lucille, was a music teacher in Hays; she died in 1957. Survivors include two sons, Harold, Chatsworth, CA; and Jon, Salina, KS; one daughter, Patricia Phillips, Logansport, IN; one sister, Lucile Hall, Oakley; 12 grandchildren and five gt. grandchildren.
