Leonard was a native of Rowan County and a Farmer. On February 17, 1926, he married Minnie Tackett, they became the parents of Lena Mae, Marie, Cecil, Leonard Jr., Arlie, James, David, Ernest, Harlen, Allen, Charles Abel , Rosa and Elijah.
Mr. Stegall attended the Primitive Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at the New Hope Baptist Church at Cranston. The Rev. Luther Bradley, Rev. Charlie Littleton, Rev. Kelly Profitt and Rev. Lindsay Caudill officiated.
