AGED DIVIDE MAN DIED LAST NIGHT; FUNERAL TUESDAY
George N. Blosser, known to his friends as "Uncle" George, died at his
home in Divide Sunday night (December 27, 1931) at 11 o'clock at the age of 88 years.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. B.F. Woodward and Mrs. C.J.
Simmons, living near Divide and Mrs. L.C. Leuty, who made her home with him and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Kost of Lancaster, Ohio and two brothers, L.L. and Sim of Moweaqua, ILL.
Mr. Blosser came to Illinois in 1874, in a covered wagon, settling near Moweaqua for a year, later moving to Jefferson County, which contained much forest land at that time, and made his home in this county until his death.
He always led an active life, and until a few months ago, looked after
the affairs of the farm. In his earlier years he taught school and when Divide was first made a post office, became postmaster, serving in that capacity until the office was discontinued. In connection with the post office he operated the only store in that vicinity. The later years of his life were devoted to farming, which he loved and which he made a success.
Mr. Blosser was devoted to his family and friends and always greeted
them with a smile of welcome. He was a member of the M.E. Church and
attended the services as long as his health and strength permitted.
