NEWTON - Services for Florence Margaret Spires Chapman will be held today at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Oglesbee officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Chapman, 89, of Newton, died Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Bethel WMU and the Bethel Homemakers Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha Lewis and her husband, John, of Pascagoula and Margaret Evans of Cleveland; a son-in-law, Dolphus Carter of Meridian; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Grady Chapman; a daughter, Mary Ellen Chapman Carter; and a grandson, Michael Scot Evans.
The family requests memorials be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Grady Chapman and Miss Florence Spires took their friends by surprise a few days ago, when they drove to the Methodist parsonage at Newton where they had Rev. H. A. Wood say the words that united them in holy bonds of matrimony. They will make their home at Lawrence.
