in July 1833, came to Lapeer with his parents, where there was only six log cabins. York was throughout his life, an exemplary character, a man of sterling integrity, industrious, and temperate and frugal. His greatest ambition was to leave a good name and to owe no man a dollar. In his early life he joined the Congregational Church. He leaves three grandchildren.
