Alice Kraft Rasmussen, 69, formerly of Polson, Montana, died of cancer November 7th at her home in Billings Heights. Alice was born in Bluegrass, North Dakota, 15 May 1925, as the 14th child born to Jacob and Anna Marie (Zimbelmann) Kraft. She moved to Montana in 1927 and settled in the Belfry, Montana, area and then later moved with the family to a farm west of Billings. She married Bernard Rasmussen June 10, 1960 at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. At the time of her marriage, she worked at the Highlands Golf Club as a Hostess moving to Polson, Montana, in 1962, she worked as a waitress and then as a grocery checker and clerk at the Polson Liquor Store. After retiring in 1986, she and her husband spent winters in Yuma, Arizona. They moved back to spend full time Billings in 1991. She is survived by her husband Bernhard; two stepdaughters, Linda Rachel of Polson, and Laura Rica of Laughlin, Nevada, four brothers Edward, Albert, and Bruce Boots Kraft of Billings, and Emmanuel Kraft of Absarokee, and two sisters, Anna Jensen of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Peggy Kraft of Billings.
Alice was a gracious hostess in usually had a family picnic once or twice a year for the families of her siblings. She loved gardening and had hundreds of roses she was proud to display in her garden. She enjoyed playing Pinochle and being with her many wonderful friends from all over. Alice will be remembered among other things for her many years of loyal support and work with the Montana State Old Timers Fiddlers' Contest at Polson.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday November 12, at the Smith West Chapel 304 34th Street West Chapel. Visitation will be at Smith's downtown Chapel until 9:00 p.m. Friday. Casket will be closed at Smith West Chapel service. Interment will be at the Lavina Cemetery, Lavina, Montana with lunch following at the Lavina Senior Citizens Center. Memorials will be to the American Cancer Society or Lavina Senior Center.
