"GEORGE POSSON IS DEAD AT 77.
Was G. A. R. Veteran And Raisin Trustee.
George B[orst] Posson, 77 years old, trustee of the Sun Maid Raisin Growers and for years actively engaged in public and business matters of the Valley, died at his home on Belmont avenue last night.
He was born in New York in 1846. He served during the Civil War in the first battalion, thirteenth infantry and in the ninth Illinois cavalry.
He came to California in 1904 and has lived on his Belmont avenue home ever since. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Katherine Posson; two sons, Paul B. and Phillip F., all of Fresno; a sister, Mrs. Martha A. Bender, and a brother, Peter E. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Mr. Posson was a member of the Masonic lodge, the Commandary and Scottish rites and the Tripoli Shrine of Milwaukee. He was also a member of the Wolcott Post of the G. A. R.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock from the family residence nine miles east of Fresno under the auspices of the Masonic lodges. Burial will take place in the Mountain View cemetery with Stephens and Bean in charge."
