Maxine Edna Byrd, age 89 of Lawson, MO formerly of Richmond, CA passed away Sunday February 1, 2009 at Lawson Manor in Lawson, MO.

Maxine was born October 6, 1919 in Wileaka OK. She was married to Paul Byrd who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two children, Paula Brown and Max Byrd.

Surviving are a grandson, Steven Brown and wife Dana of Lawson MO; granddaughter, Lisa Knox of Venicia CA; son, Tim Byrd of San Pablo CA and a daughter Pam Castillo of Pinole CA, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Byrd was born in Oklahoma and lived there until moving to California where she resided in the Richmond and San Pablo areas for over 40 years. Maxine worked in the ship yards building Liberty ships during WWII as a weld checker. Later she was employed as an accountant with Kaiser-Permanente for 16 years before retiring in the early 1980's. She enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening and antiquing. She was of the Baptist faith and had served as Sunday School teacher and several women's groups of the church.
