126 ILL INF
CIVIL WAR 1861-1865
James Hagerman was born in Ohio and moved with his family to Illinois in the late 1850s. He joined the 126th Illinois Infantry in August 1862 along with his brothers Parker and Aaron. His regiment participated in the capture of Little Rock and was then stationed at DeValls Bluff where he met his future wife, Melinda Wright. I had this VA stone put up in the 1990s as a memorial, because we do not know his actual burial location. Family tradition says he died in Little Rock and was buried in a pauper's grave. I had the stone place here near where many of his children are buried. Mark Hubbs, 2018
