Garrett Wayne Acker, 42 of Joplin, MO died at 2:15am, Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, MO.

Wayne was born on July 18, 1964 in Washington D.C., to Garrett and Athalee (Johnson) Aker.

He received his education in the District of Columbia public schools system. He was a graduate of Calvin Coolidge High School.

Wayne served his country in the United States Army. He was trained to work as an ammunitions specialist until he was honorably discharged on December 6, 1989.

In March of 1987, he married Antoinette Davis. From this union, Cherelle Ebony was born. They later divorced.

Wayne became a production assistant at Superior Industries. He later was employed by the Sugar Creek Packing Company as a processor. He went on to become as assistant trainer and forklift operator at Eagle Picher. Currently, he was employed by Mid Com Cable of Joplin, MO.

On November 20, 1998, he married Robyn Christmas. From this union, Tremayne Garrett was born. They later divorced.

Survivors include two sisters Sheila and brother-in-law Dewey Madison and Karen Acker; brother Nikalas Acker; children Cherrelle Ebony and son-in-law Matthew Brooks, Devon Lee Erwin-Acker, Payton Eugene Acker and granddaughter, Nevaeh Che'Rie Brooks; niece, Danielle Acker; nephew, Kevin Madison; loving companion Karie Watham, and a host of relatives and friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and son Tremayne Garrett Acker.

Funeral services will be 11:00am, Monday, December 11, 2006 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 611 S. East Ave., Columbus, KS with Rev. Paul Duncan officiating.

Burial will follow in the Park Cemetery in Columbus, KS.

The family will receive friends from 10am on Monday until the service time.
