Maurice Oliver was born in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1924 and raised on his family's farm outside Grand Pass, Missouri. He was the only child of Maurice J. and Ventle (Dude) Oliver.
Maurice B. Oliver, known as "Maurie," was a veteran of World War II where he attained the rank of sergeant and served in France and Italy. Upon his return from the service, he relocated along with his aunt and uncle to Detroit, Michigan, and began a 35 year career with Chrysler's Mopar Division.
In 1949 Maurie Oliver married his first wife, Betty, in Waverly, Missouri. She preceded him in death. He then married the former Glendora Wilson on August 9, 1999, in Toledo, Ohio.
In 1951, Mr. Oliver along with several co-workers, formed Motor Parts Federal Credit Union, which today has four branches. He had joined the Erin Presbyterian Church in 1974, and served his church family and community as a deacon and cultivated many lifelong friendships. He was a member of the Masonic orders.
Along with his wife, Glendora Oliver, he was also survived by two children, Lynne (Marv) Schultz and Jim Oliver; seven grandchildren, John (Katie) Schultz, Joanne (Danny) Bartley, Jason, Michael, Andrew, Devin and Dylan; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, John Andrew, Conner, Chase, Presley and twins, Cameron and Jesse; his step-children, Cedric (Carmen) Lee of Detroit and LaToya Wilson-Cook and James of SanAntonio, Texas; grandchildren, Cameron V. Lee at home, and T.J. and Taylor Cook.
