Frank came to this community before Fulda was known. The nearest railroad was at Heron Lake, and Frank made many trips to that town with oxen, as well as to Jackson and Currie for supplies and to have his wheat ground into flour. In 1880 he assisted in the building of the Milwaukee road thru Fulda. Frank was also here during the days the grasshoppers ravaged the country, and could tell many interesting stories of the experiences and hard times suffered by the early settlers.
Frank was married in a double ceremony at Avoca in May, 1881, his bride being Josefa Busch. The other bridal pair was Mr. and Mrs. John Appel. The two couples were already looking forward with pleasure to the celebration of the Golden Wedding anniversary next May.
In failing health for the past three years, but more seriously so following two strokes since the fourth, Frank passed away at the hospital at Rochester. He had been taken to the hospital two weeks ago following the second stroke. On last week Friday he underwent an operation, complications and pneumonia setting in.
Frank & Josefa were the parents of Frank W., Emil, Emanuel, John, William, Fred, Clarence, Eda (Louis) Ella, Mary (Ed) Appel, Anna (Frank H.) Haberman, Wilhelmina (John) Puhl and Gunda Juhl-Hough.
Frank's siblings include John Ramerth, Adolf Ramert, and Ferdinand Ramert, Anna (Vincent) Meixner & Theresa Holtz-Rich-Heyer.
Funeral services were held from St. Gabriel's Catholic Church.
