Funeral services for Joseph Clyde Heavins were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 1996 at the Vase Funeral Home, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs. The Rev. Jim Hennig of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiated. Interment was in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Todd Heavins, Shane Heavins, Jason Watson, Joe Stephenson, Tom James and Jon Heavins.

Heavins, 96, of 1229 Main St., Reliance, died at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 1996 at his home.

A resident of Reliance for the past 30 years and a former Nebraska resident, Heavins was born Aug. 20, 1899 in Edgar Springs, Mo., the son of the late Benjamin and Sarah Morgedant Heavin. He attended schools in Missouri and married the former Daisy Prideaux in Wheatland on July 12, 1926. She preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 1988 in Reliance.

Heavins was a retired rancher and farmer, who raised both cattle and horses.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Carole Heavins of Reliance; one sister, Jenny Harbor of Eugene, Ore.; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Heavins was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, one daughter, Mary Lou Brunz, and one great-granddaughter, Crissy Hewitt.
