Funeral services for David Carlos Steedley, 81, of Sweetwater Road, North Augusta, who died March 27, 2006, will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock from the Sweetwater Baptist Church. Dr. Paul W. Noe officiating.

Interment in Sweetwater Cemetery with Military Honors.

Mr. Steedley was a native of Alma, Georgia, having made North Augusta his home for the past 58 years. He was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church, Church Cemetery Committee, Briggs Sunday School Class and the Joy Choir. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, Mr. Steedley received two Purple Hearts and was a Charter Member of the Mendel Rivers Post #44 Disabled American Veterans. He was retired from the E.I. DuPont Company at the Savannah River Plant, a member of the North Augusta Country Club and a former member of the North Augusta Optimist Club.

Survivors include his wife, Ola Mae McCarty Steedley; a son and daughter-in-law, David Monte Steedley and Twyla Tuten, North Augusta; a daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Randy Cannon, North Augusta; three grandchildren, Karen Roberts, Shannon Nicole Herman and Twyla Wofford and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Aubrey L. Steedley, Albany, Georgia and Amos W. Steedley, North Augusta; a sister, Argent Corbett, Ray City, Georgia.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Briggs Sunday School Class. Active Pallbearers will be Craig Kupitz, Gary Safley, Kevin Rix, Carroll Dyal, Verl Steedley, Rick Osbon, Larry McCarty and Marion Cliatt.

Memorials may be made to the Sweetwater Baptist Church Building Fund, 180 Sweetwater Road, North Augusta, SC.
