Excerpt--Peter S. Fike was born Oct. 17, 1842 in Fayette Co., Pa. and died Dec. 2, 1928 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. R. Fichtner, in Eglon. The deceased was the oldest of 12 children born to Samuel A. and Rachel Snyder Fike, who came from Fayette Co., Pa. to West Virginia their son was about 4 years old.
On Aug. 7, 1862, he was united in marriage to Christiann King near Fellowsville. Twelve children were born to his union, four sons and one daughter preceded their father in death. The widow and following children survive: Jesse Fike of Easton, Md., Nathan K. Fike of Elizabethtown, Pa., Mrs. A. S. Arnold of Hedgesville, WV, Mrs. Seymour Hamstead of Greenwood, Del., Mrs. J. W. Wenzel of Myersdale, Pa., Mrs. G. B. Hamstead and Mrs. C. R. Fichtner, both of Eglon. Also a foster daughter, Mrs. Chester Sipes of Elkins. Mr. Fike is also survived by two brothers, Rev. T. S. Fike of Thurmont, Md., and Rev. John S. Fike of Eglon.
