Elizabeth Virginia Lillard, 97, a resident of Coffman Nursing Home in Hagerstown, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 7, 1909, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred L. and L. Irene Eckstine Morin. Her husband, Frederick W. Lillard, died in 1958.

She graduated from Washington County High School in 1928, Towson Normal School and Shepherd College. She earned her master's degree from Western Maryland College. She taught in several elementary schools. She was principal at Pinesburg, Winter Street and Pangborn schools.

She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. She was a member of Conococheague Chapter of DAR, Maryland State, Washington County and National Retired Teachers Associations, a charter member of Washington Hospital Auxiliary and the EX Hi Y Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Jane Lillard Morin of Islip, N.Y.; stepdaughter, Elizabeth McCauley of Frederick, Md.; one brother, Robert L. Morin of Orange, Va.; two grandsons; two stepgrandsons; and three great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Foltz; and two brothers, R. William Morin and Donald Morin.

Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Coffman Nursing Home Recreation Fund, 1304 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
