William F. Banta of Humrick, IL, died one week ago last Monday, April 24, 1898, aged past 57 years. He was a good citizen, and always enjoyed innocent sport. He always attended our county fair when there was a fox chase on the program, with a lot of fast running hounds, and hardly ever failed to take first premium in the chase. He was a Kentuckian by birth and an ex-Confederate soldier, having served under the daring John Morgan. He had been a member of the C.P. Church since 1872, and lived a Christian life.
