Born in 1841 to parents Richard (b. @1821 in TN) and Catharine (b. @1821 in TN); siblings: Abraham (b. @1846), Mary A. (b. @1848), John (b. @1851), Rhoda (b. @1853), Melissa (b. @1855), and James (b. @1860); lived in Center Twp., Boone Co., IN (P.O. – Lebanon) in 1860; 5'10 ½" tall, blue eyes, farmer; enlisted in Co. H, 38TH IND INF on Oct. 4, 1861; wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga in Sept. 1863; reenlisted as a veteran volunteer on Dec. 28, 1863; wounded again on June 3, 1864 during the Atlanta Campaign; wounds were sustained in the right shoulder, neck, and hand; mustered out July 30, 1865

Breedlove married Miss Anna Louise Story (1854-1929) on June 13, 1873 in Orange Co., IN; known children: William (b. @1874), Lorenzo (d. 1896), Mary (1877-1894), Lee (b. 1885), Harry (b. 1893), Stella (b. 1898), and Albert (b. 1900); applied for a federal pension on July 28, 1865 (app. #79,948; cert. #91,928 - Indiana); member of Indiana G.A.R. Post #334 (Basil B. Decker Post); lived in French Lick Twp., Orange Co., IN at the time of the 1910 & 1920 U.S. Censuses; spent time in Battle Mountain Sanitarium in Hot Springs, South Dakota in 1914; suffered from mitral insufficiency, rheumatism, and chronic diarrhea late in life; d. July 8, 1927 at age 86 in French Lick, IN; widow Anna applied for a pension Aug. 15, 1927 (app. #1,588,587; cert. #A11-10-27 - Indiana)
