Family Obituary:
Anna Maria Louisa Sophia Kloke, nee Kreft, was born November 16, 1861 at Westphalia, Germany, to Carl Kreft and wife Charlotte nee Heidenrich. At the age of six years she, with her parents and sisters, crossed the waters and came to America. The family first settled near Hazelton, Illinois and later moved to Knox County where she spent the remainder of her life. She was confirmed in the Bethel church during the pastorate of Rev. Mueller in 1876; to which church she remained a faithful and active member until the time of her death, being able to attend worship services up to her last short illness.
She was united in marriage to Charles F. Kloke on March 4, 1886. To them eight children were born. They established their home on a farm near Freelandville where she lived the rest of her life with the exception of nine months, while they resided in Freelandville, when the Angel of Death visited the home of their son, Henry, bereaving him of his wife and leaving a baby boy to care for. In 1936, Mr. and Mrs. Kloke were permitted to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary at which time they had open house to their many friends. Though seemingly having failing health, the last years Grandmother Kloke was able to enjoy church activities together with home duties until January 10 when she was forced to remain in bed with a severe cold. This leaving her in a weakened condition. And on January 16 at 5 a.m. she suffered a severe heart attack and a second attack on January 17 at 9:30 a.m. from which she was unable to recover. She leaves to mourn her passing the bereaved husband and six children, Henry, Helen, John, Regina, Anna and Emma. Two, Louisa and Paul, having preceeded her in death.
