Wm. ‘Otis' Allen

Wm. Otis Allen, 93, of Wayne City died 10:30 a.m. June 14, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Allen had worked at Sexton Manufacturing as treasurer and was the deputy Wayne County treasurer. He started as an assistant cashier at the First National Bank of Wayne City in 1921 and later served as bank president until 1970 when he retired. He then became chairman of the board. In all, he served the bank more than 20 years.

Born Jan. 18, 1905, in Wayne County, he was a son of Logan Allen and Laura (Turner) Allen. He married Cybil (sic Sybil Augusta) Jones on Sept. 9, 1923 in Sims and she preceded him in death in 1984.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Home of Wayne City with the Rev. Richard McCormick and the Rev. Oakley Miller officiating. Burial will be in Thomason Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Masonic services will be 7 p.m. tonight, conducted by Lodge 759 AF&AM of which Mr. Allen was a member for more than 50 years.

Survivors include a son ........ and wife ...... ; a grandson ...... and wife ..... ; three great-grandchildren ....... , all of Wayne City; a stepgrandchild ..... of Wayne City; three nieces; and a nephew.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and his parents.
