Chester L. Coffey, 55, 4879 S. Marietta Road, Shelbyville, Ind., died at 7 p.m. Friday at his residence.

He was born Aug. 24, 1938, in New Palestine, Ind., the son of Kenneth L Coffee. For 18 years he worked at labor maintenance in a factory at MacBeath Hardwoods in Edinburgh, Ind. He was a 12-year veteran of the U.S. Navy.

On March 19, 1976, he married Janet Ann Neville, and she survives, Shelbyville; with his mother, Elizabeth Louise Blocher and his stepfather, Arthur Blocher, Shelbyville; two sons, Darrell Neville, Indianapolis and William Franklin Neville, Marietta, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. Michael (Teresa) Hendershott, St. Paul, Ind.; Mrs. William (Audrey) Baker, Shelbyville, and Mrs. Robert (Sharon) Boggess, North Carolina; five sisters, Mrs. Carl (Sarah) Loveless, Mrs. Marvin (Dolly) Jones, both of Shelbyville, Mrs. Robbie (Margaret) Poe, Indianapolis, Mrs. Robert (Sharon) Kidwell, Martinsville, Ind., and Carolyn Coffey, New Albany, Ind.; seven brothers, Larry, Ronnie, Charles, Kenneth and Jerry Joe Coffey, all five of Shelbyville, Harry Coffee, Marietta, Ind., and Jimmy Coffey, Indianapolis; three stepbrothers, Russell and William Blocher, both of Shelbyville, and Jonny Blocher, Arizona, and four grandchildren.

His father and one brother preceded him in death.

The Rev. Carl Leth will officiate the services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Murphy Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison, Shelbyville.

Burial will be in the Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Military rites will be conducted by the local veterans' organizations.

Memorials may go to the Volunteer Marietta Fire Department.
