He and his family moved to Iowa by 1842 and stayed there for some years before they moved to Grand Island NE where they had a tree clain before arriving in Rapid City in 1877, he had 10 children some may never have left Iowa and others may have stayed in Nebraska, his brother and his family also went to Grand Island NE and the son of his brother, Albert Shoemaker came to Rapid City in 1896.
Jesse was married to Hernrietta Hurley who died in Rapid City Sept 9,1889. His son Cornelius died here in 1891 and a daughter married to David Ferguson, Henretta, died in 1890. Another son JOhn H died in 1935.
Several grandchildren were born in Pennington County before 1890. His daughter Amanda married Fred Brown and had a son Harold born in 1889, John H and wife Ellen had three children Lucinda, Grace and Dorothy.
Eliza Jane had married a Mitchell in Iowa and came here with Lida married Walter Smith and had two children by 1890, Standish, and Walter and a son Jesse Mitchell. Henrietta Ferguson had three children Matine, a son name unknown and Florence.

Henrietta and David G Ferguson had 4 children: Florence Ferguson (Newell) 18821964, Georgiana Ferguson (Durian) 1885-1969, Mattine Ferguson (Decker) 1886-1975 and Curtis Ferguson 1888-1947. I am Martha Decker, Mattine's granddaughter.
After Henrietta died in 1890, the kids were all sent to live with David G Ferguson's brother and sister, their uncle Stuart Ferguson and aunt Mattie Ferguson on the Ferguson family farm in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
I do not know anything about Jesse or his other children other than what is on Ancestry.com. I DO know that they were in Randolph County in Indiana before they went to Keokuk, Iowa, and after Keokuk they went to Grand Island, Nebraska and then Rapid City.
