Marvin J. Harper

Marvin Jay Harper, 66, of Williamstown passed away Sept. 17, 2007, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born in Phoenix, Ariz., a son of the late Earnest and Winifred E. Russell Harper. He was retired from Chevron Chemical after 35 years of service, was a Baptist by faith, enjoyed fishing, boating, walking and cycling and was a carpenter by trade.

Jay is survived by his wife of 16 years, Pam Harper; daughter, Deedee Lang and her husband, Larry, of Waterford, Ohio; son, Earnest J. Harper and his wife, Kathleen, of Cambridge, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Heather Sandy of Vienna and Janell Sandy of Marietta; brother, Brooks Harper of Marietta; sister, Patty Eastham of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Private family memorial service will be held at a later date with Pastor Scott Morehead officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Strecker Cancer Center, 401 Mathew St., Marietta, OH 45750.

Cremation services have been entrusted to the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna.
