James Hampton Sikes, 73, born c1846, a prominent citizen and merchant of Hoboken, died Sunday night, Oct 1939, at his home after an illness of several days.

He was a member of Hoboken Baptist Church and a devout Christian gentleman.

Survivors are his widow: two sons, J. O. and W.T. Sikes of Hoboken, two daughters, Mrs. A.A. Allen of Folkston and Mrs. O.M. Dunn of Milledgeville; two sisters, Mrs. Floyd Jordan and Mrs. Ella Grandy, of Cameron, SC.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning, October 17, 1939, at the Hoboken Baptist Church. Rev. A.M. McCool, the pastor, was in charge of the services and paid high tribute to the life and good works of the deceased.

Burial was in Hoboken Cemetery.
