On my Great Grandfather's headstone his birth year is put as 1814 but if you go by his parents supposed marriage date of 1817 (no confirmation to date of the actual year) and by the 1900 Census his birth year is 1818. I have put it as 1818 but wanted to indicate the 1814 year in case this is actually the birth year.
